Dwarf, densely caespitose, somewhat glaucescent-pruinose perennial, ± nigrescent on drying. Stems numerous, to 2 cm, prostrate to erect, quadrangular,  sparsely hispid to glabrous. Leaves imbricate, curved inwards; sparingly hispid to ciliate or glabrous; lower 4-5 x 0.5-0.7 mm, linear to oblong, ± cuspidate, with 0.4-0.6 mm hyaline apex; upper 6-8 x 0.6-0.7 mm, narrowly lanceolate to linear, aristate, with awns 1-1.5 mm and somewhat revolute to flat margins. Inflorescence very reduced, with single or paired, exserted flowers in axils of leafy bracts. Calyx consisting of minute, blunt, ± denticulate lobes. Corolla pinkish when dry, 8-10 mm, narrowly infundibular, with c. 3 mm, shortly appendiculate, ± spreading lobes, very sparingly hairy to glabrous. Ovary smooth and glabrous. Fl. 7-8. Alt. 1600-1800 m.
