Rhizomatous, villous perennial with a short flowering stem, 2-5 cm. Basal leaves longer than stem , trifoliolate; leaflets broadly ovate or obovate, 10-50 mm, crenate-serrate, sparsely villous, green above, sericeous beneath. Flowers terminal, solitary or in a 2- or 3-flowered cyme. Epicalyx segments and sepals equal, lanceolate-ovate, 3-6 mm, acute. Sepals with a reddish blotch on inner side towards the base. Petals white or rarely pinkish, obovate, 3-5 mm, emarginate, slightly shorter than sepals. Achenes glabrous; style subterminal, slightly longer than achene. Fl. 3-7. In forests, by streams, s.l.-l800 m.
