Stems hollow, glabrous, erect. Leaves dentate, ovate-orbicular, cordate, usually . with the sinus closed by the overlapping bases of the lamina. Perianth segments yellow to golden yellow, 7-9, rather variable in shape, elliptic to ovate to obovate, 18-23 mm. Follicles greenish, 12-16 mm, beaked, the beak 1-4 mm. Fl. 4-7. Damp places, 1700-3600 m.
Bulgaria, Caucasia, N. & N.W. Iran. Doubtfully distinct from the widespread and polymorphic C. palustris L., which technically differs in its fewer, usually broader, perianth segments.
