Involucral leaves sessile, elliptical, entire or few-toothed near apex. Flower solitary. Tepals 7-12, ovate-oblong, scarlet, scarlet with a yellowish claw Bowles & Stearn), violet, or pink with a whitish base HaL). Achenes densely villose. Fl. 3-4. Scrub and turfy slopes, s.l.-100 m.
