Plant glabrous, branched from base, 20-40 cm. Leaf laciniae linear. Flowers 4-5 cm across. Sepals purple, glabrous, reflexed. Petals cuneate-obovate, crimson, unmarked. Achenes conferted, 5-7 mm, weakly ridged, dorsal margin keeled but without a projection, transverse crest wide and sinuate-toothed; beak broadly lanceolate and canaliculate below, in line with achene axis, often uncinate, green, c. as long as the green achene. Fl. 4-5. Grain and fallow fields, 500-1100 m.
