Perennial. Stems 60-120 cm, loosely tufted, erect, sometimes slightly bent at base, slender to stout, 3-5-noded, smooth, glabrous. Leaf sheaths smooth, shorter than internodes; ligules 3-5 mm, obtuse; blades 8-28 cm x 5-14 mm, linear, acuminate, dull green, glabrous but slightly rough on margins and veins. Panicle 18-22 x 7-11 cm, lanceolate to ovate or oblong, very lax; branches 1.5-7.5 cm; pedicels 2.5-6 mm. Spikelets 3-3.8 mm, elliptic to ovate. Glumes green, whitish, glabrous, ovate to ovate-elliptic, acute. Lemma lanceolate to elliptic in dorsal view. Anthers 2-3 mm. Fl. 6-7. Moist soil in Pinus nigra forest.
