Perennial, 10-15 cm, woody and strongly branched at base, decumbent or ascending, densely whitish-hirsute with eglandular crisp 0.4-1.2 mm hairs. Leaves subsessile, oblanceolate, 6-18 x 3-6 mm, pinnatifidly serrate to pinnatifid, with 3-6 teeth per side, long cuneate at base. Racemes 2-4, often opposite, 2-8 cm, 30-40-flowered, peduncle 2-3 cm. Pedicels 2-6 mm, 0.5-1.5 x bracts. Bracts oblong-lanceolate, lowest sometimes with 1-4 teeth. Calyx 2-5 mm, lobes oblong-lanceolate. Corolla blue or white, 8-12 mm diam. Style 3.5-4 mm. Capsule obcordate, c. 4 x 4.5 mm, subequalling calyx, base ± rounded, puberulent with eglandular, curved hairs. Seeds unknown. 2/1 = 64. Fl. 5-6. Juniperus jorest, rocky steppe, 800-1900 m.
