Plants slender, 15-30 cm. Leaves 3-5, crowded near base. Spike ± dense, with 3-8 rather small flowers. Bracts exceeding ovary. Sepals greenish, ± suffused with rose, 9-12 mm, dorsal curved forwards. Petals linear, 4-6 x 1-1.5 mm, minutely velvety, greenish, suffused brownish-rose. Labellum 3-lobed, 10 mm, narrowed towards base, with a distinct blackish swelling at base; lateral lobes small, gibbous, villous outside; middle lobe with reflexed margins, thus appearing narrow, tapering towards apex into a point, brown to purplish-brown velvety; speculum whitish or very pale yellowish-green, H-shaped, sometimes without cross-bar. Column with c. 1 mm connective. Fl. 4-5. Edges of wet meadows and fields, Quercus coccifera macchie, grassy spots between limestone rocks, 500-1250 m.
