Dwarf glabrous or scabrid annual; stems 4-8 cm, ascending. Leaves 4-10 cm, obovate to elliptic, sessile. Flowers solitary in the leafaxils ; hypanthium 2-3 mm, campanulate in flower and fruit; epicalyx segments c. 0,5 mm, narrowly triangular, c. as long as the narrowly deltate, scarious sepals, erect or patent in fruit; petals c. 1 mm, pale purple, fugaceous, stamens 6. Capsule 2-3 mm diam., subglobose. Fl. 5-6. Damp places at low altitudes.
