Perennial. Mature stock bulbous, clothed with dark fibres; stems 7-35 cm, equal to or overtopping leaves, less erect and stiff than in other species, to 2-5 mm thick. Leaves 1-2 mm broad. Inflorescence fairly lax , few-flowered. Pedicels ± patent, to c. 5 mm at fruiting stage. Fruits 5-9 x 1-1.5 mm, narrowly ellipsoid to cylindrical; only 3 carpels fertile; style short. Fl. 3-5. Seashore meadows, s.l.
