Corm tunic membranous, with very fine fibres. Stem 25-55 cm. Leaves 4; lamina 5-10 mm broad, veins irregularly spaced. Spike lax, 3-10-flowered, distichous but not markedly secund. Perianth rose-pink or deep cerise-pink; tube slightly curved, posterior 10-12 mm, anterior 11-13 mm; segments rhombic, elliptic or obovate, rounded or mucronate, upper rather short-clawed; upper median 20-25 x 8-10 mm, upper lateral 20-23 x 7-9 mm, lower lateral 19-20 x 6-7 mm, lower median 20-21 x 8-9 mm. Anthers 6.5-8.5 mm, filaments 13-14 mm. Capsule ellipsoid; seeds winged. 2n = 60. Fl. 4-6. Rocky limestone slopes, Pinus nigra forest, coastal phrygana, nr rivers, s.l.-1200 m.
