Corm tunic membranous. splitting lengthways into fibres or strips. Leaves 5-8 . synanthous but usually only shortly developed at flowering time. 0.5-1.5 mm wide. glabrous. Prophyll absent. Bracteole present. narrower than the bract. Throat of perianth yellow, glabrous; segments subequal, lanceolate to obovate, obtuse to subacute, inside pale lilac-blue , outside of the outer three segments cream or yellowish with a narrow median darker blue or violet stripe, sometimes also with finer veining, outer segments 2.1-2.8 x 0.7-0.9 cm, inner 2.1-2.5 x 0.5-0.8 cm. Filaments 5-6 mm long, yellow, glabrous; anthers 7-9 mm long. Before dehiscence yellow with a grey-green margin, becoming blue-green after dehiscence. Style divided into 3 red branches. the branches slightly frilled at apex. exceeding or sometimes equalling the anthers. Fl. 3. Screes and in light Ouercus/Pinus/Juniperus woodland. 900-1000 m.
