Corm lying on its side; tunic thinly membranous with parallel or weakly reticulate fibres. Leaves hysteranthous, rarely those of previous season persisting until anthesis, 1.5-2 mm broad. Prophyll present. Bracteole absent. Throat of perianth pubescent, white; segments 3-4.5 x 0.8-1.2 cm, subacute or acute, mid lilac-blue. Filaments 0.4-0.6 cm, glabrous, white; anthers 0.9-1.6 cm, creamy-white. Style dividing into c. 20 or more slender whitish branches. 2n = 10. Fl. 9-10. In Quercus scrub in mountains, 1830-2000 m.
