Annual, shortly glandular-hairy, 10-50 cm, often branched. Leaves trifoliolate; leaflets ovate to oblong, denticulate, 10-25 x 6-14 mm. Peduncle 15-45 mm, with awn 6-13 mm, normally 2-flowered. Calyx campanulate, 6-9 mm, parted to 2/3 into linear 3-nerved lobes. Corolla straw coloured, 12-15 mm, standard often with pink stripes, keel with pink-suffused tip. Legume linear-oblong, 15-20 x 4-5 mm, 12-25-ovuled. Seeds tubercled, kidney-shaped, 2,5-4 mm. Fl 4-5. Cultivated land, waste places, s.I.-300 m.

Southern parts of Mediterranean area, absent in France and the Balkans. Medit. element.
