Scapose or caulescent perennial with a woody caudex. Leaves 6-10 cm; leaflets 6-8 mm, oblong, sparsely simple-pilose, hairs sometimes restricted to the mid-veins, 8-14-paired; stipules 4-6 mm, lanceolate. Peduncles 10-16 cm. Inflorescence a lax, cylindrical, 20-60-flowered spike. Bracts c. 6 mm, linear-lanceolate. Calyx 10-12 mm, tubular, sparsely black and white simple-villose; teeth c. 3 mm, setaceous. Corolla violet or whitish; standard 16-22 mm. Legume c. 10 mm, ovoid, sessile, laterally compressed, long white simple-pilose. Fl. 5-6. Steppe, stony places, cultivated land, 1700-2380 m.
