Plant up to 120 cm. Fronds lanceolate, petiole about 1/4 length of frond, densely covered with narrow rufescent scales which continue on the rachis, intermixed with broader dark brown scales at base. Lamina soft in texture, bi-pinnate or 1-pinnate with some of the larger ultimate pinnules pinnatifid. Pinnae alternate or sub-opposite, pinnules ovate, shortly stalked, very unequal at base with a lobe towards the apex of the pinna. Indusium round, pale brown, spores areolate. Spores ripe 5-8. In forests on limestone and acid rocks, s.l.-500 m.
