Spreading, mat-forming perennial. Stems 2-10 cm, densely foliate, glabrous to sparsely hairy, some ending in a solitary flower. Leaves 2-5 mm, linear-lanceolate, obtuse to subacute, long-ciliate at base, 1-veined. Sepals 3,5-5 mm, oblong, obtuse, hairy, 1-3-veined. Petals obovate-spathulate, 1 ½ -2 x longer than the calyx. Staminal glands 5, entire, flaplike. Capsule oblong-ovoid, c. 1 ½ x longer than calyx. Seeds fimbriate on the dorsal ridge. Fl. 6-8. Rocky and stony slopes, 1830-3200 m.
