Perennial with thick rhizome, stems 1 m, 1 cm diam. at base, pubescent below with minute, crisp, mostly glandular hairs, glabrous above, densely foliate. Leaves oblong-lanceolate, long-acuminate, very acute, 9-13 cm x 2-3 cm, with 5-7 nerves. Inflorescence oblong, strict, dichotomously branched, many-flowered, flowers congested in globular cymes. Bracts green, scarious-margined, lanceolate, acuminate. Pedicels 2-6 mm. Calyx campanulate, 2.5-3 mm, teeth oblong, obtuse. Petals. 4 mm, white, oblong, obtuse. Capsule not known. Fl. 6-7. Gypsum slopes,
