Diffuse perennial. Stems numerous, 10-25 cm, retrorsely scabrid-pilose. Leaves linear to very narrowly lanceolate, pilose or rarely glabrous, usually with sterile shoots in their axils. Inflorescence very contracted. Bracts with scarious margins. Sepals ovate-Ianceolate, 5-6 mm, with broad scarious margins. Petals white, 7-11 mm. Capsule membranous, exserted from the calyx, opening by flat teeth. Fl. 6-8. Slopes and screes, 800-2250 m.
