Annual herb. Stems ascending to erect, 10-30 cm, with an indumentum of short glandular hairs, and often also longer, eglandular hairs. Lowermost leaves oblong-elliptic, deeply pinnatisect, the segments oblong-triangular to triangular, often dentate. Upper leaves similar, but less deeply divided. Petals purple, entire, 15-18 mm. Fruits 40-60 x 2-4 mm. Fl. 3-5. Vineyards, cornfields, cultivated ground, lip to 1000 m.
