Similar to E. russicum, but taller ; basal and lower cauline leaves to 250 x 18 mm, ± adpressed-setose, often rather densely so and appearing slightly sericeous, shortly petiolate; inflorescence to 70 cm; calyx 7-10 mm at anthesis; corolla cream or pink-flushed, streaked or spotted mauve, 10-13 mm; anthers blue-grey; style bifid for c. 3 mm. Fl. 5-7. Fields, roadsides, waste places, nr s.l.-600 m.
