Annual herb. Stem much-branched, 15-25 cm, ± densely patent-hispid. Leaves lanceolate, linear or oblanceolate, to 30 x 8 mm, sessile, adpressed- to semipatent-hispid. Inflorescence lax, 3-7-branched. Calyx 5-9 mm in flower, divided to c. 5/6 , lobes linear, acute; fruiting calyx 8-10 mm, base subglobose, tightly enfolding nutlets, nerves forming 5 gibbous projections. Corolla yellow; tube-10-12 mm, annulus present; limb 2-2·5 mm diam., unspotted. Apex of style twice divided, stigmas 4. Nutlets c. 2·5 mm, ovoid-trigonal, with distinct acuminate beak, tuberculate-rugose. Fl. 4-5. Gravel river terraces, 400-1200 m.
