Erect stoloniferous perennial with sparsely floccose stems 30-120 cm. Basal leaves petiolate, obovate-lanceolate, ± pinnatifid; cauline becoming sessile towards top of stem, pinnatisect; all leaves floccose, especially below. Capitula radiate, borne in a narrow corymb, 1.2-1.5 cm broad, phyllaries 6-8 mm, lanceolate, floccose; calycular bracts c. 3-4 mm. Ligules yellow. Achenes c. 2 mm, hairy on ribs. Pappus c. 6 mm.

Most of Europe except Arctic; Caucasia, Central Asia.
