Galatella cretica

Herbaceous perennial, 15-30 cm tall. Stems several, erect, rigid, leafy, arachnoid-lanate, glabrescent. Leaves linear-lanceolate, 1.5-3 x 0.2-0.4 cm, mucronate or acute, rigid, eglandular, 1-veined. Capitula few to several, 8-12 mm diam. Phyllaries arranged in 2-3 rows; outermost lanceolate, acute, dark greenish-brown; inner oblong-linear, subacute, suffused reddish-purple. Ligules absent. Tubular florets yellow, rarely purplish. Achenes, c 5 mm, compressed white adpressed-pilose. Pappus hairs more or less equal, scabridulous. Fl. 9-10. Conglomerate cliffs, limestone rocks, phrygana, gravely slopes near sea 10-500m.
