Annual with short primary stem, copiously branched, up to 25 cm, tomentose. Lower leaves lyrate-pinnatifid, median and upper oblong to lanceolate, uppermost enveloping involucre. Involucre 10-13 x 5-6 mm. Appendages large, almost concealing basal part of phyllaries, nearly circular, with hyaline decurrent margin and firmer light brown central part, mucro absent or barely visible. Flowers rose-purple, central hermaphrodite, almost white. Achenes 2-2,5 mm; pappus 2-3 mm. Fl. 5-6. Steppe, dry shores, moist sand, roadside banks, 300-840 m.
