Erect or ascending, adpressed-pubescent annual. Stems branched from base, 10-50 cm. Leaves 1,5-3 cm, oblanceolate in outline, 2-3-pinnatisect, lobes oblanceolate, acute, 1-3 x 0,5 mm. Capitula radiate; peduncles becoming thickened and arcuate. Involucre 0,5-0,75 cm broad; phyllaries ovate-oblong,. pubescent, margins scarious, acute or subacute. Receptacle elongate-conical, naked at base; paleae narrowly linear, occurring only in upper part ofreceptacle. Ray flowers c. 12, often fertile; ligules 3-7 mm. Disc corollas 2,5-3, somewhat inflated at base. Achenes persistent on receptacle, turbinate-obconical, c. 1,25 mm, distinctly and thickly 10-ribbed; apex oblique, ± 10-lobed, spongy. Fl. 4-8. Stony slopes, fields, roadsides, s.l.-1500 m.
