Subglabrous or sparsely pilose herbs, somewhat woody at base. Stems 15-25 cm, foliate to apex or naked in upper 1/2, usually branched above. Leaves pinnatisect, 0,75-1,5 cm, oblong or oblanceolate in outline, segments linear, acicular, 4-10-paired, 3-8 mm, simple, 2-fid at base or 3-fid. Capitula radiate or discoid. Involucre 1-1,5 cm broad; phyllaries narrowly lanceolate with narrow pale brown scarious margins,· usually sparsely glandular-pubescent. Ligules absent or 15-20, white, 10 x 3-4 mm. Receptacle conical; paleae oblanceolate, ± abruptly acuminate, concave. Disc corollas inflated at base at maturity. Achenes 1,75-2 mm, whitish or pale brown, thickly ribbed; corona ± entire, 0·25 mm. Fl. 5-7. Among Quercus, Pinus or Juniperus and in subalpine scrub regions, 350-1600 m.
