Height 25-35 cm. Stems terete, longitudinally striped, adpressed white-tomentose. Leaves densely or ± loosely spreading-woolly, linear, median cauline 1,5-2,5 x 0,1-0,2 cm, pinnatisect, segments densely imbricate when young, undivided, rarely 3-lobed or 3-partite, with triangular acuminate or suborbicular lobes 0,5-1 mm, denticulate. Capitula 5-12, corymbs 1,5-5 cm broad, peduncles 0,5-7 cm. Involucre hemispherical to depressed, 3,5-5 x 4-6,5 mm, rounded at base. Phyllaries lanceolate to ovate, acute, without scarious margins, carinate, tomentose when young, becoming glabrous. Ligules 6-8, white , 1-2,5 mm; disc flowers 20-60. 2n = 18. Fl. 5-8. Calcareous rocks and scree, Cedrus forest, 900-2000 m.
