Bulb ovoid to subglobose, 1.5-2 x 0.8-1.4 cm. Leaves linear, occasionally very narrowly oblanceolate, flat in bud, 8-11 cm x 3-5 mm at anthesis, to 27 cm x 3-9 mm at maturity, frequently distinctly twisted, occasionally only slightly so, apex obtuse, flat, glaucous. Scape 8-14 cm. Outer perianth segments convex, narrowly obovate-spathulate, 15-26 x 7-10 mm, inner segments flat, usually noticeably flared at apex, narrowly oblong-spathulate, 7-11 x 3-5 mm, with separate green patches at base and apex, sometimes joined in centre. Filaments 1 mm, anthers 4-5 mm. Capsule ovoid to subglobose, 11-16 x 10-14 mm. 2n = 24. Fl. 2-4. Wet meadows or rocky limestone slopes in moist leaf mould under Pinus brutia and Pyrus, 200-1820 m.
