Bulb ovoid, 0.7-1.5 cm; outer tunics finally breaking into fibres. Stem 8-25 cm. Leaves filiform, 1-2 mm broad, fistulose, shorter than stem. Spathe membranous, 2-valved; valves ovate, acute, soon torn. Umbel globose, 1-2 cm diam., Pedicels unequal, shorter than perianth. Perianth cylindrical-campanulate; segments mauve or purple with or without pale margins,6-7 mm, ovate, oblong, acute; outer segments c. as long as inner or shorter. Filaments shorter than perianth segments, outer shorter than inner; median cusp of inner filaments shorter than bidentate or simple lateral cusps. Capsule subglobose, 3 mm, included in perianth.
