Bulb ovoid, 1.5-2.5 cm high, 1-2 cm in diam., outer tunics dark grey, soon decaying, inner tunic white. Scape 6-12 cm long, 4-8 cm long above ground, cylindrical, 2-3 mm in diam., . Leaf 1, lamina linear-lanceolate, 0.5-1 cm wide and 10-14 cm long, usually longer than scape, flat but near base canaliculate, glabrous, greyish-green with glaucous bloom, carmine near base, margin smooth. Spathe split into 2-3 triangular, 0.8-1 cm long, pale purple parts. Inflorescence subglobose, 18-52-flowered, 3-4 cm in diam. Pedicels cylindrical, 1-3 cm long, unequal, purplish, glossy. Tepals initially stellate, reflexed and involute after anthesis, oblong, boat-shaped, obtuse at apex, 4-5 x 1.7-1.8 mm, whitish pink with a wide and dark purple median vein. Filaments 4.7-5.2 mm, equalling or longer than tepals, connate for nearly 1 mm at base, adnate to perigone, above abruptly long subulate, white. Anthers oblong, 1.5-2 mm long and 1 mm wide, purple. Ovary sessile, obovoid triangular with 6 furrows, 2-3 mm long and 3-4 mm in diameter, dull light green, surface tuberculate, 2 ovules per loculus. Style 2.8-3.5 mm long, whitish. Stigma undivided, white. Capsula obovate, with three longitudinal furrows, 4-5 mm long. Seeds 2 mm long, blackish.
