Biennial, 40-80 cm, loosely or densely covered with branched, subadpressed hairs. Stem slender, terete, simple or branched. Basal leaves lanceolate to linear- lanceolate, 6-10 x 1.5-4 cm, ± distinctly crenate, greenish above, loosely tomentose beneath, petiole 2-3 cm; cauline smaller, oblong to ovate, acuminate. Inflorescence racemose, simple, or branched and forming oblong-pyramidal panicle, with clusters of 2-5 flowers, congested above, loosely arranged below. Bracts linear, tomentose interspersed with glandular hairs. Pedicels to 5 mm; bracteoles present or absent. Calyx 5 mm, with eglandular and glandular hairs, lobes linear, subobtuse. Corolla yellow, c. 20 mm diam., without pellucid glands, pilose outside. Stamens 5, anthers reniform, filaments with whitish-yellow wool up to anthers. Capsule unknown; ovary broadly oblong-ovate, tomentose. Fl. 4-5. Steppe,fallow fields, 1000-1070 m.
