Biennial, 60-80 cm, with woolly-arachnoid indumentum of branched eglandular hairs below and simple, articulate, eglandular and shorter glandular hairs above. Stem terete or angular-striate above, with a few short branches. Basal leaves lanceolate to broadly oblong, 10-20 x 3-6 cm, indistinctly crenulate-serrate to subentire, acutish or acute, cuneate at base, petiole 5-8 cm; cauline smaller, lanceolate, acuminate, entire. Inflorescence lax. Lower bracts cordate-auriculate, acuminate, to 20 mm, middle and upper lanceolate-linear, acuminate-subulate. Pedicels 10-25 mm, ebracteolate. Calyx 4-6 mm, lobes lanceolate, mucronate. Corolla yellow, 20-25 mm diam., without pellucid glands, glandular outside. 2 anterior filaments with purple-violet wool in lower ½ , glabrous above, 3 posterior woolly up to anthers, wool purple below, whitish above; anterior anthers linear-oblong, 3-4 mm, decurrent, posterior reniform, medifixed. Capsule broadly ovate, 6-8 x 4-5 mm, with spreading glandular and eglandular hairs. Fl. 6. Alt. 1450 m.
