Perennial, 65 cm or more, woody at base. Stem much branched to form spreading panicle. Leaves petiolate, upper sessile; lamina 1-2-pinnatisect, primary segments oblong to narrowly linear, 8-35 x 1-2,5 mm. Lower bracts pinnatisect, upper narrowly oblong to linear with entire margin. Branches of cymes straight, 2-12 cm, greatly elongating in fruit, monochasial; flowers 10-30, subsessile. Peduncle 2-4 cm; alar pedicels 1-2,5 mm, much shorter than glabrous, 4-8 mm linear bracteoles. Calyx lobes glabrous, obovate to orbicular, 1,5-1,8 x 1,5-1,8 mm; scarious margin white, 0,2-0,4 mm broad. Corolla bicoloured, 4 mm, lower and median lobes white, tube and upper lip maroon. Stamens included; staminode pale yellow, small, ovate-spade-shaped, often cordate at base, apex not reaching sinus of upper lobes. Capsule globose, 2,5-3 x 3-4 mm, mucronate. Fl. 5. Steep marly banks, c. 600 m.
