Perennial up to 120 cm. Basal leaves ovate-oblong, about 2 x longer than broad, obtuse, cordate at the base. Glomeruli of the inflorescence rather remote. Pedicels thin, flexuous and drooping, about 2 x longer than the fruiting perianth segments, articulated below the middle, gradually swollen above. Inner perianth segments narrowly triangular in fruit, toothed , 4-4.5 x c.2.5 mm, only one tuberculate. Fl. 5-9. Banks, shady and damp places, s.l.-1200 m.
