Stems to 30 cm, usually fasciculate, decumbent at base, erect above. Leaf sheaths slightly inflated, retrorsely pilose in lower part; blades to 2.5 mm broad, shortly pilose. Spike to 4.5 cm. Lemma 4-7 mm. Fl. 4-6. Limestone steppe, fallow fields, calcareous vineyards, 400-1850 m.
