Catapodium rigidum
Catapodium rigidum
Telekotu
Stems to 15 cm, procumbent to erect, rigid. Leaf sheaths smooth. Ligules truncate and jagged, 1-4 mm. Inflorescence 1-8 cm, rigid, usually with 1 or 2 branches at lower nodes and sometimes well branched; branches and pedicels with weak pulvini and often somewhat divaricate at maturity. Pedicels 0.5-3 mm, adpressed to patent, rather slender to stout. Spikelets 4-10 mm, narrowly ovate, rather readily disarticulating. Glumes glabrous or aculeolate on veins only; lower 1.3-2 mm, 3-veined; upper 1.5-2.3 mm, 3-veined. Lemma 2-2.6 rom, rounded on back or keeled distally, glabrous. Raehilla segments 0.5-1 mm. Anthers 0.4-0.6 mm, slightly exserted at anthesis. Caryopsis c. 1.5 mm.
1. Inflorescence branches lacking spikelets on proximal 1/3; pedieels mostly 0.5-1 rnm , relatively stout; lemmas not convolute near apex and remaining partially imbricate after anthesis subsp. hemipoa
1. Inflorescence branches bearing spikelets from near base; pedicels mostly 1-2 mm, relatively slender; lemmas strongly convolute after anthesis, becoming well separated from each other subsp. rigidum
2. Inflorescence racemose to paniculate with branches and spikelets spreading in one plane var. rigidum
2. Inflorescence a panicle with branches and spikelets spreading in three dimensions var. majus
