Biennial or perennial herb. Stems ± glabrous, up to 50 cm. Radical leaves lyrate-pinnatisect, the lower segments long-triangular, entire, the upper segments oblong, dentate. Buds ovate, smoothly acuminate. Sepals 1,5-3 cm, glabrous, dark-grey to black, somewhat pruinose. Petals oval, c. 2,5 cm, orange-buff, concolorous. Ovary glabrous, etuberculate. Siliquae erect, straight, subtorulose. Fl. 5-6. Dry hills, downs, etc., 950-1400 m.
Endemic; similar to G.flavum. Ir.-Tur. element.
