Stems erect, 10-30 cm. Leaves biternate with leaflets deeply to shallowly cut; ultimate lobes usually obovate-obtuse. Racemes 6-16-flowered. elongating in fruit. Bracts entire. ovate. 10-20 mrn. Pedicels 3-10 mm, Outer petals broadly winged, emarginate. Spur 10-14 mm. Inner petals pale. Fruit oblong to ellipsoid. c. 20 mm, 5-10-seeded. 2n=16. 24.32. Fl. 4-5. Rich soil in beech and fir woods. 100-1500 m.
From N. Iran to N. Portugal and northward to S. Sweden.
