Tuber divided into a number of segments. Stems unbranched, erect, 10-20 cm, bearing a number of scale leaves near the base. Cauline leaves alternate, ternate, the segments palmatifid into oblong to narrowly obovate laciniae, the petioles sheathing, very long, so that the laminae are borne at the same level as the inflorescence. Inflorescence condensed, 5-8-flowered, bracts entire, narrowly ovate, exceeding the fruiting pedicels. Flowers blue. Capsule narrowly obovate, 10-12 x 3-4 mm. FI. 7. Alpine rocky slopes and screes, 2000-3300 m.
