Stems 13-33 cm. Leaves 6-9, oblanceolate or obovate, 60-95 x 20-35 mm, bright or pale green, prominently 3-veined, with faint secondary veins; apex shortly acuminate; base narrowed into short petiole. Perlanth segments usually 4, lanceolate or ovate-lanceolate, green, 25-30 x 8-15 mm;innerwhorl absent. Filaments 5-14 mm, some with basal nectaries, anthers 5-7 mm. Styles much longer than stamens, 12-23 mm. Berry black, 12 mm diam., glaucescent. Fl. 5-6. Wet places in Picea orientalis and Fagus forest and Rhododendron scrub on steep shady slopes, 460-2000 m.
