Glabrous annual; stems 10-45 cm, erect or ascending. Leaves 6-15 mm, elliptic to narrowly elliptic, sessile. Bracteoles subulate, inconspicuous. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils, monomorphic, 6-merous: hypanthium 4-6 mm, obconical in flower, cylindrical in fruit; epicalyx segments 1-1,5 mm, subulate; sepals c. 0,7 mm, deltate, petals 2-3 mm, pink; stamens usually 4-6. Capsule c. 4 mm, cylindrical, enclosed within the calyx. Fl. 6-8. Dunes, river beds, damp places, s.l.-l200 m.
