Shrub to 130 cm. Leaves greenish, glandular-puberulent, with or without loose indumentum of stellate hairs above, ± densely stellate-tomentose beneath, lower leaves broadly ovate to oblong-lanceolate, cordate at base, crenate, 4-15 x 1.5-7 cm, petiole to 4 cm. Floral leaves oblong to lanceolate, petiolate, to 2 x as long as verticillasters. Verticillasters 14, 12-20-flowered. Bracteoles subulate, linear or narrowly lanceolate, 15-22 x 24 mm, hispid-viscid. Calyx shortly pedicellate, 18-25 mm, densely hispid-viscid, teeth subulate, 5-8 mm. Corolla yellow, 25-35 mm. Nutlets glabrous. Fl. 5-7. Rocky slopes, schistose hillsides, Quercus scrub, 300-1440 m.
