Subshrub to 50 cm, ± glabrous. Branches to 10 pairs per stem, to 15 cm. Leaves subsessile, ovate, 5-30 x 4-24 mm, obtuse, glaucous. Spicules 10-35 x 10-30 mm. Bracts suborbicular, obovate or elliptic, 7-22 x 6-20 mm, acute or obtuse, yellowish-green, rarely tinged purple. Verticillasters 2-12-flowered. Calyx 5-7.5 mm; upper lip with ± broadly triangular-ovate or triangular teeth to c. 1/2; lower lip ± as long as upper lip, consisting of narrowly triangular, ± acuminate teeth. Corolla white or tinged pink, 10-16 mm. Upper filaments to 2 mm, lower to 10 mm. Fl. 6-8. Calcareous and non-calcareous rocks, slopes and screes, 1000-3000 m.
