Plant 15-22 cm. Rhizome tough with wiry roots, forming dense clumps. Leaves linear-lanceolate, 15-32 x 0.8-1.5 cm. Bract and bracteole 8-10 cm. Flowers deep lavender-purple with a yellow median stripe on falls, lower half of falls white, veined and dotted purple. Perianth tube 8-13 cm. Falls oblanceolate, 7.5-9 x 2-2.2 cm, obtuse; standards oblanceolate, 7-9 x 2-2.5 cm, obtuse; stylar tube c. 2-2.5 cm, branches c. 2-3 x 0.4 cm with acute lobes c. 1 x 0.2 cm. Capsule not seen. Fl. 3. Among shrubs and on shady banks, 50-240 m.
