Caulescent musky annual, 5-40 cm. Basal and cauline leaves pinnate; leaflets ovate, 6-20 mm, incised or pinnatifid with broad serrate segments; stipules ovate-orbicular, larger than in E. cicutarium. Sepals 4-5 mm, up to 8 mm in fruit; awn stout, 0,5-1 mm, without bristles at tip. Petals ovate, lilac-pink, slightly exceeding sepals. Mericarps 5-6 mm, foveoles glandular and more steeply sloping than in E. cicutarium, with a broad furrow beneath. Fl. 1-4. Fields and waste places, s.l-500 m.
