Perennial low undershrub with numerous ascending stems 5-30 cm, with an indumentum of glandular and eglandular spreading hairs, very rarely glabrous. Leaves trifoliolate, upper leaves often unifoliolate, lower leaves sometimes imparipinnate with two lateral pairs of leaflets; leaflets orbiculate to linear-lanceolate, denticulate, obtuse to retuse, 3-12 x 2-10 mm. Peduncle 5-15 mm, not awned or with an up to 2 mm awn, 1-2-flowered. Calyx campanulate, 5-8 mm, parted to 2/3-3/4 into linear-subulate 3-nerved lobes. Corolla yellow, 6-9 mm, standard often striped or suffused with red. Vexillar stamen inserted ± near the middle of the staminal tube. Legume oblong, 10-12 x 4-5 mm, glandular-hairy, 2-6-ovulate.  Seeds kidney-shaped, 2 mm, tubercled.
