Ascending to erect, caulescent, perennial herb, 10-20 cm, with a branched woody caudex; stems 2-10 cm. Leaves 2-3 cm; leaflets 3-8 mm, narrowly elliptic, bifurcate sericeo-strigillose, 7-10-paired; stipules c. 3 mm, triangular. Inflorescence 2-2,5 x 1,5-2 cm, a dense, globose to ovoid, 10-15-flowered spike, slightly elongating in fruit. Bracts c. 2 mm, lanceolate. Calyx 6-8 mm, campanulate, black and white ± spreading simple-pilose; teeth 3-4 mm, subulate. Corolla pink or purple; standard 12-14 mm, glabrous. Legume 6-8 x c. 2·5 mm, oblong, erectopatent spreading white simple-pilose; beak c. 3 mm. Fl. 6-7. Steppe, waste ground, 450-2060 m.
