Ascending or erect annual or perennial, glandular-hairy above; sterile shoots present or absent; flowering shoots 5-15 cm. Leaves linear-subterete, 6-10 mm, glabrous, shortly spurred, on sterile shoots densely alternate-imbricate, on flowering stems more distant and spreading. Inflorescence a 2-4-branched cyme, each branch 4-8-flowered. Flowers 5-merous, subsessile or pedicellate; sepals 1-2 mm, acute or subobtuse; petals white or pale pink with a pink mid-vein, lanceolate, 4-5 mm, erect or widely spreading; stamens 10, anthers purple; follicles usually glandular-hairy, erecto-patent. Fl. 6-8. Deciduous forest, on basic rock, s.l.-1900 m.
