Loose, cushion-forming perennial, to 5 cm, with branched woody stock. Leaves sessile, oblanceolate to linear, obtuse to acute, adpressed-pilose to ± glabrous, to 25 x 4 mm. Flowers axillary and terminal, solitary or in 2-3-flowered congested cymes, axillary ones on short peduncles. Outer sepals with adpressed to erecto-patent hairs, sometimes sparse, obovate-oblong to ovate-oblong, 6-9 mm incl. green 2.5-5 mm acute to acuminate apex. Corolla white , 12-14 mm. Ovary hairy. Fl. 7. Mountain pastures on limestone and serpentine, 1600-2670 m.
